Ishwar Chandra: The Man Who Titled Vidyasagar.

Do you ever try to judge the title of Ishwar Chandra, as Vidyasagar? I don’t dare to do so, because a pond can't Judge a Sea. But it seems very interesting to me, when there were Moses and Al-Khidh-r, David and Solomon, birth blind Homer, Socrates and Plato, Jesus and Siddhartha (Gautama Buddha), Albert Einstein and Newton and many more [we excluded Muhammad as he is the most dignified one among the creation of God]. Yet none but Ishwar Chandra is the one who titled as Vidyasagar, ie. the ‘Sea of Knowledge’.

Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar
We will discuss here only al-Khidh-r and Solomon not others, because, these two already declared wiser by the God and also known to mass of the people. Again, besides this two, all those cited here are knowledgeable in some particular field which is insufficient to eligible them to compete to the unified knowledge of the whole.

The discussion and the topic are completely out of religion. No way to take it otherwise. We are not going to prove, someone is not much wiser than others, nor are we trying to put Ishwar Chandra and others on the same array to the Prophets. We introduce Prophets here only because we believe they were wiser than any normal human, nothing else.

al-Khidh-r:
Moses awarded Prophethood at the valley of Tur, on his way to Egypt from Median. So, when he came to his home at Egypt, he and his brother Aron tried to guide Bani Israelis as they were instructed by God. And one day when Moses was in his sermon in a large gathering, a man suddenly stand-up and asked him beyond the topic, ‘Moses, what do you think, who is the wisest man in the world at this time?’ He asked such because if Moses answers, ‘Me’, then he would say to the people, ‘Look, what the foolish man he is, he thinks, he is the wisest man in the world. lol’

Moses knew the nature of his nation and it was clear to him, why the man asked him that question. So he thought a little (it came to his mind that he is the Prophet and he knows what his people don’t) and then said, ‘It’s me’. The answer was not approved by the God as it was not prophetic to say so. The answer of this type question from a prophet should be-‘Maybe it’s me, may be not, only God-the Wisest One knows who the man is’. So Gabriel came to Moses and said, ‘You are wrong, O Moses, there are people wiser than you’.

Moses at once realizes that he made a mistake. So he downed his knee to God and wishes to meet with that man, so that he may earn some knowledge from him. The man who was wiser than Moses was al-Khidh-r. God instruct Moses the way to find him. So he accompanied with Joshua leave Egypt to meet with him.

Qur'an says- "And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom we had given mercy from us and had taught him from Us a (certain) knowledge." (18:65)

This wise man al-Khidh-r even not known to us as,- ‘Sea of Knowledge’.

Solomon:
The Qur'an refers to Solomon as a prophet and a great ruler with tremendous wisdom, favor, and special powers. It is said that he prayed to God for a kingdom the like of which would not be awarded to anyone after him. [Qur’an, 34: 12. (Yahya, 2003) p 105.] Almighty God granted his wish [Bahjah, 1987, p 274.]. He had gifted Solomon with many abilities. The wind was under his command. [Qur’an, 38: 36.] He was blessed with understanding of the language of birds,[Qur’an, 27:16] insects,[‘Usmanī, 2006, Vol. 2, pp 695.] and animals.[Yahya, 2003, p 104] God directed the Jinn to work for him. [Qur’an, 34: 12] Solomon taught them how to mine soil and dig out its minerals to make tools and weapons [Alush, 2003, p 139].

Solomon was not only a king, but also one of the Prophets of God and one of the son of Prophet David, who was also a king. Both of them were wise. No need to proof of their knowledge. So, we cite only one example here to understand the depth of knowledge of Solomon.

Once, two men came to the court of David for justice. And on hearing, indicating the alleged the petitioner said, ‘My lord, his goatees entered into my paddy field at night and made a massacre of my paddy.'
David asked the alleged, ‘Is that true?’
He replied ‘Yes my Lord’.

So David thought- the owner should protect his goats and keep them fenced at night. And if the alleged would do that, his goats couldn’t able to massacre others paddy field. So, it is the responsibility and duty for the alleged to compensate the petitioner. David calculate the loss of the petitioner. And he founds that the price of the goatees is equal to the loss of destruction. So he order that the alleged shall pay the petitioner all the goatees as the compensation of the massacres.

David was famous for his Justice. So, when the alleged and the petitioner both hard the Courts order, they began to leave the court with their satisfaction.

At that time Solomon was present at the court room. He stands and appealed to the court, ‘My lord, It seems to me, though the petitioner gets proper justice with this Court Order, yet the alleged may be not getting the extreme one.’

Pin drop silence in the court. Never happens such an event before. The court signs to stops the petitioner and the alleged both. They astonished too; what is going to happen?

David smiled to his son. He had lot of faiths on his son’s knowledge and intelligence. The court ruled – ‘Appeal granted.’

On hearing, Solomon says- The goat’s owner will cultivate the land and the goatees will be under the care of land owner and he will enjoy the goatees milk. On the other hand, when the paddy field becomes as it is before its destruction, the land owner will back all the goatees to its owner except those born during the period under his care.

This time, David found a clear gap in his order. He feels proud of his son. He looks upwards and thanks God for giving him such a wise and intellectual son.
David revised his order.

Now, supporting this event I have to quote some verses of Qur’an- "And, David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field- when the goats of a people overran it (at night), and We were witness to their judgments. And We gave understanding of the case to Solomon, and to each (of them)" -(21:78-79)

Such a knowledgeable person Solomon not even titled as Vidyasagar.

Ishwar Chandra:
Ishwar Chandra was born in a ritual, higher caste Hindu Brahmin family of Birsingha, Midnapore, West Bengal, India on Sept 26, 1820. His father was Thakurdas Bandyopadhyay and mother Bhagavati Devi. He start his education at the village Pathshala (a School where a student taught on language, grammar, arithmetic and religion) in extreme poverty. Their economic condition was so bad that he has to use street lamp to study as it was not possible for them to afford a gas lamp at home.

In 1829, Ishwar Chandra admitted at Sanskrit College, Kolkata. He passed every exams with exemplary brilliance. His meritorious performance in every field of study rewarded him with prizes and scholarships every year.

In 1839, he graduated in Law. His extraordinary result in the exams on the disciplines -poetry, rhetorics, vedic literature and anthology, philosophy of law, logic, science and jurisprudence, and astrology bagged all the prizes and scholarships for best performance ever in the college history. And on evaluating his stupendous results, the College Committee endowed Ishwar Chandra with the Honorific Title of Vidyasagar (Sea of Knowledge). Thus, his Etymology of knowledge replaced the title Bandhapadhay with Vidyasagar and this appellation is identified almost ever exclusively with Ishwar Chandra.

This is in short the story of Ishwar Chandra.

Now, if you think his title, "Vidyasagar" not judged properly, then, we forwarded a question for you so that your answer may qualify you to say something about the title of Ishwar Chandra,

"Let us consider the story, a story of 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D'. Where, 'C' is the mother of 'D'. Now, 'D' met a man ‘A' and married him. On the other hand, 'B' accidentally met 'C', fell in love and later married her. A years later, in a family reunion, both 'C' and 'D' were shocked when they discover that 'A' is actually the father of 'B'.

Now, if 'C' issued a daughter 'E' and 'D' a son 'F', then, find the relation between 'E' and 'F' with proper logical explanations."

[Note that Both 'A' and 'C' were divorcee before their 2nd marriage.]

The End.

Wahshi ibn Harb: A distinguished name of a Killer.

Wahshi ibn Harb (literally- the son of war) was the Ethiopian slave of Jubayr ibn Mut'im. He is known as a killer of Hamza ibn abd al-Muttalib- uncle of the Prophet Muhammad and Musaylimah ibn Sumama bin Kabir bin Habib al-kaddab -the false Prophet.

When the prophet inviting people to Islam, only the lower class People accepting that. Thus when Ranin, the slave of Qmar accept Islam, the Quraish began to say, "If Islam is a good Religion, then the people like Ranin can't go forward letting us behind."
Ancient Spear.

However, When the Holy Prophet sent someone to Wahshi. the slave of Jubayr, inviting him to Islam. Wahshi sent a message to him: “O Muhammad! How do you invite me towards Islam, when you say that the murderer, polytheist and the adulterer will enter the Hell, will be given double punishment on the Day of Judgment, and will abide there forever? I have committed all these sins. Is there anyway (of salvation) for me in spite of all this?”

On this the following Quranic verse was revealed: “Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for them Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.”-(25:70)

Wahshi replied to this, “O Muhammad! This condition: “Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous…” is very hard for me.”

Then Allah revealed the following verse: “Allah forgiveth not (the sin of) joining other gods with Him (I.e. polytheism); but He forgiveth Whom He pleaseth other sins than this…” -(4: 116)

Wahshi again said, “O Muhammad! It is purely at Allah’s Will. I’m not certain whether I will be forgiven or not.Tell whether there is any other way?”

Then the following revelation came down: “Say: O my servants who have transgressed against their souls: Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.” -(39:53)

Then the Muslims (i.e. the Companions) said, “We also had the same questions in our mind that was asked by Wahshi.” The Holy Prophet said, “The above is a glad tiding for all Muslims.” -[The Islamic Bulletin Volume XXII No. 27, Page 29].

Hearing this Wahshi said, “This is good,”. But he didn't accept Islam at that time. May be it was because of his master. As Quraish declared, "No one accept Islam without his masters permission." Otherwise, because of fearing torture that Quraish usually doing for the new Muslims.

In the battle of Badr, many of the Quraish Leader killed, among them, Tu'ayma ibn 'Adi bin al-Khaiyar, and Othba ibn abi Rabia were included. Then at the time of Uhud, Hind- the daughter of Othba and the wife of Abu Sufiyan offered a proposal to Wahshi that if he would able to kill any of the three viz. Muhammad ibn abd-Allah, Ali ibn abi-Talib, or Hamza ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib so that she might avenge her father's death at the Battle of Badr with a promise that if he was successful in doing the job, she would take necessary steps to set him free.

Hamza killed Tu'ayma ibn 'Adi bin al-Khaiyar at the battle of Badr, who was the paternal uncle of Jubayr ibn Mut'im. So, when the Quraish preparing themselves for a battle again for revenge and to defeat Muslim, his master Jubayr told him, ‘if you kill Hamza, the uncle of Muhammad, stealthily in revenge for my uncle, you shall be manumitted.’ So it was a double chance for Wahshi to free himself from the slave chain that coupling his neck a long time ago.

When the people set out (for the battle) in the year of ‘Ainain. [‘Ainain is a mountain near the mountain of Uhud, and between it and Uhud there is a valley where the battle take places]. I went out with the people to participate in the battle.

On the Day of Uhud (625), when the army aligned for the fight, Wahshi set out seeking his prey. It was impossible for him to approach Muhammad, because his companions were nearer to him, guarding. He thought that Ali is extraordinarily vigilant in the battlefield, while, Hamza is furious at fighting, he does not pay any attention to any other side and it is possible that he may able to make him fall by some trick or by taking an opportunity of his unawares.

While he was thinking, he notice Siba’ came out from the Quraish side and said, ‘Is there any (Muslim) to accept my challenge to a duel?’
And Hamza ibn 'abd al-Muttalib heard him, came out, roaring, ‘O Siba’. O Ibn Um Anmar, the one who circumcises other ladies! Do you challenge Allah and His Apostle?’

Siba ibn abd al-Uzza going closer towards him. Hamza observed him carefully, he said: ‘Come on! O son of the clitoris-cutter,’. He then struck him a blow so quickly that it appeared to have missed his head. But that not happened, the blow had taken his head off.

Wahshi hiding himself under a rock keeping his eyes to Hamza, and when he came near to him, he came out of ambush, from a specific distance after moving his spear in a particular manner he balanced his weapon and threw it. Like other African, Wahshi was too skilled at spearing, it never missed the target.

Wahshi, looked at his spear, it still flying towards the target, then suddenly hit Hamza into his umbilicus and came out through his buttocks. He attempted moving towards Wahshi to attack him but severe pain prevented him from doing so. He remained in the same condition till his soul departed from his body. Then he came to him, pulled out his spear, returned to the encampment place and waited for his freedom. He stayed there and did not go out, for Hamza was the only one he sought, sought to kill him to free himself from slavery. He didn't involved himself in the battle.

When the battle field fully under controlled by the Quraish, Hind binte Othba find the body of Hamza, who killed his father Othba ibn Rabia in the battle of Badr. She was furious, open his chest with knife and bring out his liver, then she chewed it sitting on his breast.

When the battle was over and all the people returned to Mecca. Washi, too returned with them. He was happy, starting living there a new life as a free man.

Rasulullah heard the news of the death of his uncle. It was beyond imagine how devastating all that happened to him. This was his uncle whom he loved much. He asked if anyone had seen the place where his uncle had been killed. One of the sahabah stood out and said that he did, they went there together.

When he saw him, he cried. When he saw that his stomach was open and his insides were pulled out. The sahabah who had taken him there said that he was not in the state he had seen him when he was killed, it happened later on. This may be the action of Hind bint Utbah, wife of Abu Sufyan, who wanted to eat the liver of Hamza.

On the eve of the conquest of Mecca, Wahshi declared 'war criminals' for killing Hamza by the Prophet. So he fled from Mecca. Wahshi said, "After the Battle of Uhud, I continued to live in Mecca for quite a long time until conquered by Muslim. I then ran away to Ta'if."

Wahshi lived a few years in Ta'if among the Thaqeef. In 9 Hijri, when the people of Taif preparing to sent their deligation to Allah's Apostle, to accept Islam. This was a critical situation for Wahshi, he didn’t know what to do. If Taif was going to accept Islam, where could he go.

At last he decided to go to Syria or Yemen or some other country. That was really a state of indecision and anxiety for him, then someone told him, ‘come on with us, I swear he’ll not kill anyone who has adopted his religion and testified to the truth’.” News of the forbearance was all over, his forgiveness and his mercy was known.

He was told that the Prophet did not harm the messengers; So he too went out with them as a member of the delegation to the prophet at Madina. Then when the Thaqeef submitted to the Prophet, Wahshi too embraced Islam and went personally to swear allegiance to the Prophet.

Wahshi said, "I heard that however grave the crime of a person might be, God forgave him. I, therefore, reached him with Shahadatayn on my lips".

The Prophet saw him.  He had not seen him for many years, and was not certain if he was the man, "Are you the same Wahshi, the Ethiopian?"
He replied in the affirmative. Thereupon he signed me to sit down and then asked me, "How did you kill Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib?"

Wahshi recounted the whole story from beginning to end. But he only replied, 'What happened is what you have been told of.' he continued, 'and what is not told you that I killed him only to free myself from the bond of my slavery, I didn't take part in the battle."

There was a pin drop silent all around. On the face of the Prophet was a look of deep sorrow as he moved, said, "I should not see your face until you are resurrected, because the heart-rending calamity fell upon my uncle at your hands".

Rasulullah did not want to see the face of Wahshi again as it would bring back memories of his uncle. Something inside warned him to remain in Medina, where the memory of Hamza was deeply cherished, might be unhealthy for him. He left at once.

For the next two years he lived in various settlements around Taif, seeking obscurity and avoiding travellers. He was troubled by his conscience and feared for his life. It was a wretched existence. But he remained loyal to his new faith and elected to fight for Islam against the unbelievers. Then he came to the apostasy.

When Allah’s Messenger died, and Musaylimah claiming to be a prophet, Wahshi decided to participate in the battle against him, so that he may kill him, and make some amends in retribution the killing of Hamza. So he went out with the people to fight against Musaylimah and his followers and then God fulfilled his wish, gave him an opportunity to re-compensate his deed's.

Wahshi came to the apostasy under the command of Khalid bin Walid. He was loyal to his new faith and elected to fight for Islam against the unbelievers. Then it was against Musaylimah, the battle at Aqraba.

When the 3rd part of the battle inside the Garden starts, Wahshi searching all over for Musaylimah. Then his eagle eye caught him in a distance protected by his men. The range was not too long for him. Quickly he poised and aimed his spear to the target. It was the same spear that pierce Hamza before.

Musaylimah standing near a gap in a wall with a sword in his right hand. He looked like an ash-colored camel and his hair was dishevelled. Surely it was Musaylimah and Wahshi threw his spear at him.

An Ansari man named Abu Dojona trying to reach Musaylimah opposite to him, but before he getting him, the spear that thrown by Wahshi stalked him to the ground helplessly. At that moment Abu Dojona get him and struck him on the head and separated it from his body. But he was also beheaded by a sword from behind at the same time. Seeing the fate of Musaylimah,[reported by Abdullah ibn Omar] a slave girl from the roof of a house exclaimed: "Alas! The chief of the believers has been killed by a black slave.”

Wahshi  later take part tn the war against Syria under the command of Khalid ibn Walid. When it was conquered and became a part of the Muslim Empire, he settled in Hims at Emessa, Syria. While living there, he became addicted to excessive drinking. As a result, he is punished according to Sharia law . Caliph Omar ordered him to 80 lashes. He was the first Muslim in Syria came under the penalty for such offenses. However, after the punishment he could not give up drinking. The despair Omar commented, "Perhaps the curse of Allah rests on the Savage for the blood of Hamza."

The rest of the days of Wahshi passed in
Hims at Emessa, Syria. But he became quite famous. Many were gathered at his home to see him a look. However, though he drunkard all the time, but for the sake of arrivals he told them the details killing, Hamza and Musaylimah. And at he put an end with this historic conclusion-  "With this spear, in my days of unbelief I killed Hamza, a man among the best and in my days of belief I killed Musaylimah, the man among the worst!" and he take the spear on his lap that was stranded besides his sitting place then he became silent and mindlessly keep touching the spear lengthwise carefully, tenderly.

Same story going on...

Jafar bin Amr bin Umaiya and ‘Ubaidullah bin 'Adi Al-Khaiyar went out together and when they reached Hims, a town in Syria, ‘Ubaidullah told Jafar, “Would you like to see Wahshi so that we may ask him about the killing of Hamza?”
He replied, “Yes.”

Wahshi used to live in Hims. So, they enquired about him and somebody told them, “He is that in the shade of his palace, as if he were a full water skin.” So they went up and when they were at a short distance, they saw him. They greeted him and he also greeted them in return. Ubaidullah hide himself wearing his turban, so that Wahshi could not see except his eyes and feet. Then he said, “O Wahshi! Do you know me?”

Wahshi looked at him and then said, “No, by Allah! But I know that `Adi bin Al-Khiyar married a woman called Um Qital, the daughter of Abu al-As, and she delivered a boy for him at Mecca, and I looked for a wet nurse for that child. I carried that child along with his mother and then I handed him over to her, and your feet resemble that child’s feet.”

Then Ubaidullah uncovered his face and told him, “Will you tell us the story of the killing of Hamza?”
Wahshi keep silent for a moment, then said, "Sure." He began to tell his story. Nothing to recall as it already been told many many times to the visitors....

The End.

Hail Mary! Chaste, Pure, Chosen Above Other Women.

Hannah (Hebrew Ḥannāh, meaning "favor" or "grace"; according to Eastern Churches, she is ascribed the title Forbear of God, and both the Birth of Mary and the Dedication of Mary to the Temple are celebrated as two of the Twelve Great Feasts. Ḥannah) is also revered in Islam, recognized as a highly spiritual woman and as the mother of Mary. The Qur'an describes her as the daughter of Fatuz, who remained childless until her old age. One day she saw a bird feeding its young while sitting in the shade of a tree, which awakened her desire to have children of her own. Hannah prayed for a child and eventually conceived; her husband, named Imran, was one of the Panel Imams of the temple of Solomon and died before the child was born. Expecting the child to be male, Hannah vowed to dedicate him to isolation and service in the Temple.

However, Hannah bore a daughter instead, and upon delivering she was surprised because she expect a son, whom she vowed to Gods service, but it was a daughter and she confused that a daughter could serve God or not. However she named her Mary and seek her protection from Satan. And Qur'an answered that this daughter is uncomparable, much more than a son.

Although the canonical books of the New Testament never mentioned the parents of Mary (Luke 3:23 names Mary's father as Heli), traditions about her family, childhood, education. The oldest and most influential source for these is the apocryphal Protevangelium of James, first written in Greek around the middle of the second century but termed as apocrypha with the accusation of "absurdities" by St. Jerome in the 4th and 5th centuries and condemned as untrustworthy by Popes Damasus I, Innocent I, and Gelasius I.

It’s interesting, Qur'an declares her above the Women of the worlds, when there are lot of great Women in the History of Islam, viz. Rahima, wife of Ayub [Job], Sara, wife of Abraham, Athia, wife of Pharaoh Ramesis II, Maryam, sister of Moses, Safura, wife of Moses, Khadija, wife of Muhammad, Amina, mother of Mohammad, Ayesha, wife of Muhammad, and Fatima, daughter of Mohammad etc. Yet the ranking shall never be change nor one dare to, as it has declared by God, the Lord of the Worlds, not by Muslims.

According to Qur'an Mary was the daughter of Imran. And Imran was the next man after Abraham, whose family is chosen over the world. Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Noah and the family of Abraham and the family of 'Imran over the worlds – Descendants, some of them from others. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.-(3:33-34)

Imran- was one of the Imams of the 12 (Imams) of the Temple of Jerusalem. His wife was Hannah, -Hannah binte Fatuz. They have no children as Anna was a barren and they both were already in their older age. Yet Hannah always pray to Almighty to give them a child to cool and peace her eyes and the Lord heard her pray and she became pregnant. Hannah was so happy that she made a promise- "My Lord, indeed I have pledged to You what is in my womb, consecrated (for Your service), so accept this from me. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing." -(3:35)

Hannah delivered a child. It was a girl and she was surprised because of her promise. It was not known to her that a girl could be consecrated for the Lords service or not. So, she said, "My Lord, I have delivered a girl." And Allah was most knowing of what she delivered, "And the male is not like the female. And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You and (for) her descendants from Satan, the expelled (from the mercy of Allah)."

So her Lord accepted her with good acceptance and caused her to grow in a good manner and put her in the care of Zechariah. -(3:36-37) It is believed that the only children born without the "touch of Satan," were Mary and Jesus,[Bukhari, Anbiya, 44; Muslim, Fada'il, trad. 146, 147]

The Quran narrates that Mary grew up in the temple of the prayer, and had a special place in the temple of her own. She was placed under the care of the Zechariah, her uncle. The Muslim narrative makes it clear that lots were cast as to who should be the guardian of Mary and the outcome was that she should be placed under Zechariah's care.

Hannah didn't forget her promise. Her husband died when she was pregnant. So when Maryam leaved Brest feed, she brought her to the temple. All Imams were interested to take care of the child as she was consecrated for the Temple. Zechariah, one of the 12 Imams claimed that he is the right person among all to brought her up as his wife Elezabeth is the sister of Hannah. But other Imams were not agreed with that and not interested to give up the chance to brought up the child. And they began to quarrel and later decide to go for a lottery to solve the dispute. At that time, there were a lot of ways to examine fate viz. throwing dice on the ground, shooting arrows etc but in case of Maryam they through their pens in the pond of the Temple with a condition that he will win whose pen moves against wind. And when they cast Zechariah wins. That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, and you were not with them when they cast their pens as to which of them should be responsible for Mary. Nor were you with them when they disputed.(3:44)

Thus, Mary accommodate in a room attached to the Temple in the east under the care of Zechariah. Every time Zechariah entered upon her in the prayer chamber, he found with her provision. He said, "O Mary, from where is this (coming) to you?" She said, "It is from Allah. Indeed, Allah provides for whom He wills without account." (3:37)

Allah can do anything- there is no doubt in it to Zechariah. But he never saw such miracle in his own eyes before- Maryam takes fruits that were not available in that season. He has no children and he never prayed to almighty to give him one because he knew- he himself and his wife much older to gave birth a child. But seeing this miraculous seen with his own eyes, he prayed standing there and wished to have a child. At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication." (3:38)

This is the child hood story of Mary, the mother of Jesus- the Christ, who is born without a father. And Mary, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity, so We blew into (her garment) through Our angel, and she believed in the words of her Lord and His scriptures and was of the devoutly obedient.(66:12)

Mary spent more than a decade in the Temple and served her Lord. Then one day Gabriel brought her the news of birth of Jesus. He appeared as a well proportioned man. Mary was in her room at that time. She was surprised to see him and then feared to lose her virginity. Qur’an says-

Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east. And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man. She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, (so leave me), if you should be fearing of Allah."

He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you (news of) a pure boy."(19:16-19) "O Mary, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds. O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow (in prayer)." That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you,(3:42-43)

-"O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near (to Allah). He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous."(3:45-46)

She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"
He said, "Thus (it will be); your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter (already) decreed.' "(19:20-21)

She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?"
(The angel) said, "Such is Allah; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is. And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel and (make him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (3:47-49)
So she conceived him, (19:22)

After Conceived, Mary completely confined herself to her room. Gradually she feels the burden and was dying with shame all the time. People may know and what will they say? And atlast the time came.

Oneday, early in the morning when everybody was sleeping, she leaves the temple. There is only one thing in her mind, to find a remote place -far from the crowd; where nobody could trace her. She moved as fast as she could. And she got a place.

The place where Mary reached was a hill top. And she withdrew with him to a remote place.(19:22) And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level (areas) and flowing water.(23:50)

The childbirth pain begins and she drove her beneath a date tree. There were a shed nearby and Mary found that too, but it was an abandon Cowshed that was not known to her. Thirsty, hungry, childbirth pain and with a fear to meet any men- she was completely unable to bear all of these. So she wished to die to relief from all. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a Date tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."(19:23)

Mary might thought she was alone, but she was not. Allah, the most Merciful was always with her, but she didn’t know. God sent Gabriel to meet all of her needs. This time Gabriel was unseen- But he called her from below, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream. And shake toward you the trunk of the Date tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to (any) man.' "(19:24-26)

Mary issued a son and she named him Jesus. Because she was instructed to name such by the angel before she gave birth. On the 8th day, she went to the temple to perform religious duties. An old woman, who lived in the temple too and was known to her previously, help her to make all the arrangements happily. She can’t live in her room in the temple before passing 40 days. So when she was leaving the temple by chance met one of her relative. It was Joseph the Carpenter, her cousin. Thus Quran says- Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. (19:27)

People gathered, finding an interesting thing. Mary, the daughter of Imran -who was Pious, one of the Imams of the Temple and look what his daughter done; she gave birth a baby when she was unmarried!
They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. "O sister of Aaron", your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."(19:27-28)

Look, the style of their teasing. They called her sister of Aaron instead of Mary or Maryam, to compare two Maryams, one is pious, respectable and other is sinner, hatred and thus to show her, and feel her the difference and to be shamed her selves. ie What a dishonour of a holy name [Maryam].’

Gradually they pinched and pierced Mary with their sharp words. Mary was seated lowering her face and didn't tell a word to answer them. Because she knows, if she told them the truth, they won’t believe her. So she kept silent with her mouth shut. And that made the crowd crazy. At that time, to relieved herself from the crowd, she signed that she had vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so she would not speak to any. And they understood her sign, yet they were not interested to leave her with that alibi. They began to tease her more ferociously. So, Mary looked for another way when her vowed to the Merciful abstention didn't work. She concentrated her mind calmly. Suddenly, she recall the angels voice- ‘He will speak to the people in the cradle…’ So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?" (19:29)
People get crazier.

What to do in this situation Mary doesn't know. She was helpless and on the verse of tears. And her eyes flooded with tears and began to fall drop by drop on Jesus body, he was at that time feeding breast sited on her lap. When Mary’s eye drop touches his body, he stops feeding and leaves the breast.

Jesus observed her mothers downed crying face for a few sec. They insulted his innocent mother a lot because of him. To safe her mother from the peoples, he turns his face towards the gathering and said to them raising his finger, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive and (made me) dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive." (19:30-33)

One more interesting thing you may notice here; Jesus talked about him, about his mother, about his duty; But not a single word about his father. Why he talked to, when he was born without a father!!

People, those were gathered there, were extremely surprised, a child of few days certifying his mother’s innocence! They couldn’t believe their own eyes and ears. They were dumbed for a few minutes. Then they began to stare at Mary with fear, with respect, as if, she was a stranger and they seen her for the 1st time. They were completely doubtless and already ashamed for their behavior with her. So they immediately leave the place one by one without saying a word. One thing to be noted here, Jesus never talked again before the age, when a child normally began to talk.

On the other hand, on hearing all of this, People, whom were not seen Jesus to certify her mother, disbelieved all. More over the story made them laugh and joking. It was completely unbelievable to them. Because they know fully the procedure and items that necessary to give birth a human child. And they will disbelieve, it was also written in the Holy Scripture-

‘Look among the nations and watch—
Be utterly astounded!
For I will work a work in your days
Which you would not believe,
Though it were told you.’ (Habakkuk 1:5)

The People imposed a great slander on Mary. They said, ‘The baby is nothing but the bustard son of that carpenter.’

The carpenter to whom they pointed was Mary’s cousin, named Joseph. He sometimes meets with Mary during the time of his visit the temple.

Qur’an says to those disbelievers- And (We cursed them) for their disbelief and their saying against Mary a great slander, (4:156)
Joseph was honest. He saved Mary from the slander on marrying her.

The End.
